Community Involvement

Community involvement, support, and education are vital to addressing one of America’s most significant health challenges.

According to the National Institutes of Health, ten percent of American adults experience a substance use disorder in their lifetimes — more than 23 million people. Nearly half of Americans report having a friend, or family member addicted to drugs, according to Pew Research. Substance use disorder is among the leading causes of preventable deaths. Despite the longstanding prevalence of substance use disorders and their damaging effects, lacking education and stigma persists, causing feelings of shame, guilt, and embarrassment that keep people affected by these disorders from seeking treatment.

New Paradigm Recovery is an active member of the Northern Virginia recovery community and a positive corporate citizen. Our team members volunteer as speakers at Northern Virginia schools, advise committees, work on behalf of helping incarcerated people find recovery and reintegration and work closely with local government leaders to affect recovery-supportive policies.

As an organization committed to maintaining physical and mental health and teaching people how to recreate safely, New Paradigm leaders are key sponsors of semiprofessional sports teams and support numerous athletic initiatives for young people.

Our team members are also fixtures in local and regional recovery support groups and professional organizations. New Paradigm also provides continuing education programs for clinicians and therapists, and its team members serve as speakers and panelists at conferences and other events to inform and educate the field.
