Expert and compassionate care for mental health conditions
New Paradigm Recovery clinicians are highly experienced and licensed professionals with decades of experience treating mental health conditions. Having trained under pioneering figures in psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis, and having worked with patients in numerous renowned treatment programs and private practice, New Paradigm team members represent some of the most skilled clinicians. Compassion, person-centered treatment, and solution-oriented approaches are as important to our treatment program as are the evidence-based treatment modalities used to effect change. As a concierge-style program, New Paradigm clients receive highly personalized coordinated care, including appropriate individual psychotherapy sessions, psychiatric assessment, prescribing services, medication management, and coordinated wellness service referrals. Specialized group psychotherapy sessions are also tailored to the needs of clients experiencing certain conditions or who benefit from a group processing environment.
What we treat
Mental health conditions are numerous, affect people differently, and can be multifaceted and complex. Version five of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), the definitive mental health text, lists 298 diagnosable conditions.
Despite many possible diagnoses, mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, and psychosis, are the most prevalent. Eating disorders and disordered eating are less common but serious conditions requiring specialized treatment. Substance use disorders, including addiction, are considered mental health disorders and often co-occur with mental health disorders. (New Paradigm Recovery is a licensed substance use disorder treatment provider and offers a dedicated addiction treatment program.)
Some of the mental health conditions and issues we treat include:
- Anxiety and panic disorder
- Depression and mood disorders
- Personality disorders
- Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) (including sexual abuse)
- Grief and loss
- Divorce and separation
- Anger and rage disorders
- Family system issues
- Bipolar disorder
- Codependency
- Self-esteem and emotional disturbance
- And more
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing reports that almost half of US adults will experience mental illness in their lifetime. At any given time, an estimated 20 percent of Americans have a diagnosable mental health problem. Despite their widespread nature, too few people seek treatment for mental health conditions, and not enough high-quality treatment resources are available.
Who we treat
The New Paradigm Recovery outpatient mental health program is for medically stable adults 18 and older who live, work, and attend school in and around Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. Our clinical team has experience treating various mental health diagnoses and varying levels of complexity. While we can work with people who are experiencing acute conditions, people experiencing suicidal thoughts, psychosis, or certain other emergent symptoms may require a higher level of care before attending this program.
We offer specialized help for licensed professionals, military members, and government employees
This part of the country is home to many talented and hard-working licensed professionals, military personnel, and government employees. Pilots, medical professionals, first responders, lawyers, people with security clearances, and others who require licensure and certification sometimes fear that seeking mental healthcare could threaten their employment or workplace status. Paradoxically, people in these professions are often exposed to unusual stresses that make them more prone to experiencing mental health problems, family issues, and trauma.
New Paradigm Recovery is experienced helping licensed professionals with high-quality treatment to address the issues they face and works with employers, licensing boards, and other organizations to support client professional needs.
Authentic therapeutic alliance is a key to successful treatment
Establishing a strong, trusting relationship between clients and clinicians is one of the most important aspects of effective psychotherapy. At New Paradigm Recovery, we strive to match clients with clinicians with whom they feel most comfortable and those with the most relevant clinical experience. Because we are a concierge-style program, we can allocate the time and flexibility to get to know clients and their issues deeply, identify underlying issues and traumas, and highly tailor treatment plans to maximize effectiveness and pursue client goals.
